Color Fields

The Color-Field painters: Rothko, Still
& Newman, birthed abstract shapes — squares,
fat lines, splotches like dripped candle
wax — colors that contrast &
compliment.

Creative lust is satisfied
by many forms of caress.

I paint with words, hoping to inform
that crimson is a slash of blood, but
scarlet says “please smile.”

Today, my mood falls between
viridian & azure — learning
that physics has now established
that light & emotions are one
& the same.

My brain furrows & a query
lingers — is love a particle, or
a wave, or in some essential way,
only complete as both.
